Nestling in the Parc Naturel Régional des Préalpes d'Azur, the Gours du Ray canyon is close to the village of Gréolières, in the upper Loup valley. An unspoilt natural setting just 1h30 from Nice and Cannes.
The Gours du Ray is our favourite canyon, and that of our customers: accessible to beginners and sports enthusiasts alike, it offers a condensed version of all the best canyoning has to offer in the Alpes-Maritimes. The Gours du Ray route in detail
The Gours du Ray alternates between deep mineral sections and open green areas. Its main attraction: a succession of pools of crystal-clear turquoise water that give this canyon its unique character in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Often compared to a natural water park, the Gours du Ray attracts beginners and thrill-seekers alike. Each obstacle is optional: you choose your level of commitment at each stage, accompanied by our qualified instructors who will adapt the route to your group.
The route :
- Warm-up reminder: 4 metres
- Natural slides: several, including a spectacular finale
- Jumps: from 1 to 10 metres (all optional)
- Large basin: several metres deep, turquoise waters

- Return: 30 min (uphill in the forest)

How does an outing to the Gours du Ray work?
- Rendez-vous : We'll meet on the D79 near Gréolières. Bring a swimming costume, towel, waterproof shoes and a change of clothes.
- Equipment: Your instructor will equip you with a 5mm neoprene wetsuit, neoprene socks, helmet and harness. Safety briefing and explanation of techniques.
- Approach walk : A 10-minute descent to the start of the canyon. The landscape is already opening up towards the Préalpes d'Azur.
- The descent : 2 hours of adventure! You'll enjoy a series of slides, jumps into turquoise pools and swimming sections. Each jump is optional: you choose your level of excitement.
- Back to top : A 30-minute climb through the forest back to the cars. Debriefing and smiles guaranteed!
