The day before your departure, your guide will analyse the hydrological conditions – water level, previous days' weather, accessibility – and confirm the meeting point by text message. Depending on the season and your ability level, you will discover one of the most beautiful canyons in the Nice hinterland, with waterfalls, slides and turquoise pools. It is this Intimate knowledge of the area Who makes the difference: each canyon has its ideal flow rate, its seasonal window and its audience.

Nice is not the only one to enjoy these gorges: one also descends there from Cannes, Antibes or Menton, all within an hour of the Wolf. On the Nice side, the outing combines ideally with a stroll in the Old Nice, a visit to the hilltop villages of Gourdon and Tourrettes-sur-Loup, or even a flight: in the air in the morning, in the water in the afternoon.

Season-wise, we practice May to September. July and August offer the warmest water (15-18 °C) and long days; May-June and September remain superb, with a wetsuit compensating for the cooler temperatures (12-15 °C). Whatever the period, your slot will be confirmed the day before by SMS according to the current flow, and rescheduling remains free if conditions are not met. It is this flexibility, as much as the beauty of the Gorges du Loup, that brings our Nice-based passengers back season after season.

Le paragliding + canyoning combo, an exclusive offer from Ailéments, is available at 190 € for a full day of air + water.

At what age can you start canyoning?

The children are participating from 8 years on our introductory trails (Gour du Ray), for half a day. They must be comfortable in the water and able to follow the guide's instructions.

Day routes are accessible from age 12. There is no upper age limit as long as physical fitness allows for the approach walk and descent.

Do you need to be able to swim to go canyoning?

Yes, it's essential. You must be able to swim 25 metres and to put your head underwater without apprehension.

Some pools require you to swim a few metres before reaching the exit. If you are not comfortable in the water, canyoning is not the right activity.

Is canyoning a dangerous activity?

Supervised by a State-qualified guide, the risks are controlled. We systematically check the weather and water flow before each outing, the anchors are checked, and the equipment is inspected.

Accidents mostly happen on unsupervised outings: with Accessories, our safety is our top priority.

What equipment should I bring?

We supply all technical equipment: 5 mm wetsuit, helmet, harness, lanyard, descender, and canyon bag.

You need to bring: swimwear (under your wetsuit), worn trainers or similar closed shoes, a towel, and dry clothes for the journey back.

What footwear should you wear for canyoning?

From closed-toe trainers that you are willing to get wet and dirty. No sandals or flip-flops, no new shoes.

The ideal: an old pair of running shoes or water shoes with thick soles. The rocks are sometimes slippery, good grip is essential.

What is the best time for canyoning?

The season runs from May to September. July and August offer the best conditions: warmer water (15-18 °C), moderate flow, and long days.

In May-June and September, a wetsuit compensates for the cool water (12-15 °C). Outside of the main season, canyons may be impassable.

How long does canyoning last?

For a half-day Approximately 3 hours in total (appointment, equipment, 15 min approach walk, 2-hour descent, return).

For a day 5–6 hours (approach walk 30–45 min, descent 4 hours, return). Please bring a picnic for the full-day option.

Where exactly is the canyon from Nice?

The Gorges du Loup are 45 minutes from Nice via the Corniche Road (D6). Meet at the car park at Pont du Loup or at Bar-sur-Loup depending on the route.

We will send the exact GPS location via SMS the day before, after confirmation of the weather conditions.

Can canyoning be combined with other activities?

Absolutely. Our paragliding + canyoning combo (190 €) lets you soar over the gorges in the morning and then descend them in the afternoon — an exclusive offer on the French Riviera.
