For a tandem paragliding flight with Ailéments from Toulon, head for Gréolières, in the Préalpes d'Azur: about 2 hrs by road via the A8 then Grasse. That is where our school, the landing field and our three take-offs, up to 1,800 m, are.
Why make the trip? For the height difference, up to 1,000 m, which gives flights of 10 minutes to an hour depending on the option, and for the setting: the Cheiron, the Gorges du Loup, the hilltop villages and the sea in the distance. Let's be clear: you do not fly over Toulon harbour. In return, the day fills up easily: the flight in the morning, then a canyon descent in the Gorges du Loup, next to Gréolières (see canyoning from Toulon), or a stop in Gourdon before heading back down to the coast. At Ailéments, all our tandem flights and courses take place at Gréolières, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Near Toulon, other organisations fly at Cap Sicié or Signes: these sites are covered in our guide to paragliding sites in France.
At Gréolières, three take-offs, at 1,100, 1,500 and 1,800 m, up to 1,000 m of height difference. The school and the meeting point are at the landing field; our 4x4 then takes you up to the take-off, in about 20 minutes.

Mont Lachens (1,714 m) is a fine free-flight site, with tandem flights available from La Roque-Esclapon.

The combo is booked in advance: the flight in the morning, a lunch break in the village, then the canyon in the afternoon, with no long drive in between. People from Toulon come as families (children from age 5), as couples, with friends or for a hen or stag party in the Var; and since postponement is free if the weather does not cooperate, the drive is never wasted.

Here is what awaits people from Toulon when they arrive: a flight at Gréolières, filmed by the instructor. The video is optional (€30), included with the Prestige and Educational flights.
Beneath the wing, the Cheiron ridges and the Gorges du Loup go by, with the Mediterranean in the distance: another way to see the sea again, from above. The video is transferred to your phone, so you can watch it again once you are back on the coast.
From the Child flight to the Prestige flight, a tandem flight option for every wish, at the same prices for everyone. All-inclusive prices: equipment, instructor, insurance.
For a gentle first time, the Child flight (from age 5, in the morning); for thrills, the Ascendant flight, the most requested; to understand piloting, the Educational flight (45 min to 1 hr); to fly further and longer, the Prestige flight, video included; and in winter, when it snows, the ski flight from the Gréolières resort. Just come with closed shoes and a jacket.
On site, everything is supervised by your state-qualified instructor, from the ride up to the take-off until the landing.

Once in the air, you call the shots: taking the controls for a moment, accepting the aerobatics your instructor offers, or drifting along in silence. The instructor finishes with a debrief and hands over the video if you chose it. No preparation is needed, and the flight adapts to everyone, from the most cautious to the most playful.
We fly all year round except from January to mid-February: spring and autumn bring the most regular thermals, summer is flown early in the morning, and winter offers days of rare visibility. The slot is confirmed the day before by text message, so you never drive 2 hrs for nothing, and you only pay for your flight once you have landed.

10 to 15 minutes for the Child flight, 20 to 30 minutes for the Ascendant flight, 45 minutes to 1 hour for the Prestige and Educational flights. On site, allow 1 hr 30 at most for a Child or Ascendant flight, and about 1 hr 45 for the Prestige, including the ride up to the take-off.
Yes: usually it is your instructor who offers aerobatics during the flight (wing-overs, 360s), on all our flights, if you agree and if conditions allow. You can also ask for them, or prefer a calm flight above the Gorges du Loup.
