Your first flight
Beginning paragliding: your first flight with Ailéments
Do you dream of flying but have never tried paragliding? A tandem flight is perfect for you. Comfortably seated in a harness facing the landscape, you don't have to do anything: your state-certified instructor will manage the take-off, the flight, and the landing.
Tandem paragliding allows you to discover free flight without any prior training. From 5 years old and up to 95 kg, everyone can experience this unique adventure. No special physical condition is required: a few running steps at take-off are enough to get airborne. The person must be able to run, and must not have joint problems or be overweight to the extent that it prevents them from running. The instructor will be able to manage take-off, landing, and also the flight under their conditions.
At Ailéments, we have introduced thousands of people to paragliding since 2013. All our equipment is inspected and serviced by the Aerotech workshop, which specialises in paraglider revision, set up at the edge of the landing area at Gréolières. Situated on the ridges of the Cheiron at an altitude of 1,800 metres, Gréolières is one of the best paragliding sites in the south of France. Just 45 minutes from Nice, this spot – recognised by the French Free Flight Federation (FFVL) – offers flight conditions exceptional all year round thanks to the Mediterranean climate. Your flight with Ailéments
How does a paragliding flight work?
Your paragliding experience begins the day before with a confirmation text message including the GPS meeting point and the precise time, depending on the weather.
D-Day
- Please go directly to the landing site (Le Grand-Pré, at Gréolières Village) — the exact GPS coordinates will be sent to you by text message the day before departure
- 4x4 ascent to the take-off site (5 to 20 minutes on a track depending on conditions, transport provided by your instructors)
- Safety briefing: your instructor will explain the take-off and landing procedures
- Equipment: harness, helmet and harness for tandem paragliding
- Take-off: a few running steps into the wind and you are in the air
- Flying: contemplation, thrills or acrobatics of your choice
- Soft landing in the Grand-Pré at Gréolières Village
Your companions, however, will wait calmly for your landing: over a coffee, they'll watch you return from the sky and land gently, which is ideal for photos. You can communicate with your pilot throughout the flight. Fancy taking the controls? On certain packages, the instructor will let you pilot for a few moments.

Paragliding is an activity that is accessible to all, and is governed by strict safety standards.

Weight : no minimum and up to 95 kg (for an athletic person fit for running)
Physical condition: No particular requirements, just be able to run a few metres and not have any joint problems.

The weather, our priority
We provide a weather update every day at 8 pm. If conditions are not optimal (too much wind, rain, storm), we will postpone your flight free of charge.
Autonomous drivers
Shuttle service for autonomous pilots — departure from Gréolières
Are you an independent pilot looking to fly at Gréolières without the logistical hassle? Our instructors’ association (Syndicat Ailéments Parapente Canyoning) is organising a shared shuttle service to the site’s three traditional launch sites, subject to conditions.
Two destinations, two prices
Take-off from the Ridges (1,400 m)
Access to the main site, the starting point for the majority of thermal flights from Cheiron: €10 member / €12 visitor.
300 take-off
School site, ideal for recovery flights, calm conditions or training flights: €5 member / €6 visitor.
User pilot membership: €10 per year. It gives you access to preferential rates on all your shuttle journeys for the calendar year, and pays for itself from the 5th journey to Les Crêts.
How does it work
The shuttle departs based on meteorological conditions and our instructors' schedules (often alongside the tandem flights). Booking is recommended by phone or WhatsApp on 06 87 68 71 90. Presentation of the FFVL licence (or equivalent) is required at departure. Payment by bank transfer, credit card or cash with receipt – all proceeds are collected in the syndicate's account, within a perfectly regulated fiscal and legal framework.
Why does this service exist
Gréolières is one of the most beautiful flying sites in the Alpes-Maritimes, but access to the take-off points remains a challenge for visiting pilots. By combining our own flights with those of our tandem clients, we offer a simple, clean and affordable solution that has minimal impact on the environment (just one vehicle instead of several).
What exactly is paragliding?
Paragliding is an ultralight aircraft consisting of a flexible wing and a harness. Unlike a parachute, which is used for descending, paragliding allows you to fly and even gain altitude by using updrafts. It is the simplest and most accessible way to discover free flight, with no engine or noise, just you and the wind.
Is paragliding dangerous?
Tandem paragliding with a state-certified instructor is a very safe activity. Our pilots have thousands of flying hours under their belts and know the Gréolières site inside out. The equipment is checked before every flight, and we only take off when weather conditions are ideal. Since 2013, we have completed thousands of flights without incident.
Can you paraglide in winter?
Yes, paragliding is available all year round at Gréolières. Winter even offers particularly stable conditions with exceptional visibility over the snow-capped peaks. We also offer the ski paragliding For lovers of winter thrills: ski take-off from the slopes, then flight over the resort.
Is a particular level of fitness required?
No, tandem paragliding does not require any specific physical fitness. You simply need to be able to run, and therefore have no joint problems, for takeoff, on a grassy slope. During the flight, you are comfortably seated in the harness, with your legs extended. For landing, the instructor handles everything and you gently touch down on your feet.
What is the difference between paragliding and paramotoring?
Paragliding is a form of unpowered free flight: you take off on foot from a slope and use air currents to fly. A paramotor adds a backpack-mounted engine, allowing you to take off from flat ground and fly regardless of thermal conditions. At Ailéments, we practise paragliding exclusively for a pure, silent and contemplative flying experience.
What is the duration of a paragliding flight?
The duration of your flight depends on the package chosen. The child's flight lasts between 10 and 15 minutes, perfect for a first discovery. The soaring flight, our best-seller, offers you 20 to 30 minutes in the air thanks to the thermals that your pilot exploits to prolong the pleasure. The prestige flight, on the other hand, lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour: you follow the ridges to the village of Coursegoules with a breathtaking view. Note that weather conditions and the quality of the updrafts may vary these durations; on a good day, we don't watch the clock!
Can photos and videos be taken during the flight?
Your monitor can film your entire flight with a GoPro camera mounted on a pole. The video option (€30) allows you to leave with an SD card containing footage of your experience. For the prestige and educational packages, video is included in the price. We advise against using your own phone during the flight for safety reasons.
Do you offer group rates or packages for hen parties/stag dos?
Absolutely! We love flying groups of friends, the hen and stag parties and corporate teams. We offer tiered pricing based on the number of participants and can deploy multiple instructors to get everyone flying in the same half-day.
