Exceptional gradients for paragliding
Taking off from the Cheiron peaks at an altitude of 1,800 metres and landing in the village, Gréolières offers flights lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, compared with 15-20 minutes at sites closer to the Var. This difference completely transforms the experience: you really do have time to enjoy the 360° panorama of the Mercantour peaks and the Mediterranean, to learn to fly, and to feel the thrill of free flight.
The site offers optimum conditions all year round, with over 250 days of flying weather. The perfect southerly exposure protects you from the prevailing winds, while the sea-mountain breezes create powerful, regular thermals in spring and autumn. The high mountain atmosphere and unspoilt nature of Le Cheiron make every flight unique, far from the hustle and bustle of the coastline. An established school and community
The Ailéments school has been based in Gréolières for over 10 years. The DEJEPS qualified instructors know the site and its conditions inside out. Approved equipment is supplied, and the Aerotech overhaul workshop is on site, guaranteeing that the equipment is constantly checked and serviced.
Over the years, an active community of Var pilots has developed at Gréolières. Club outings are regular, car pooling is easily organised between people from the Var, and the atmosphere remains friendly and local. Many pilots from the Var have learnt to fly here and continue to do so.
