FAQ

Frequently asked questions about canyoning in Marseille

How much does a canyoning trip from Marseille cost?

Expect to pay €55 per person for a half-day discovery trip (2-3 hours' descent, equipment included). A sporting day costs €80 for 4-5 hours in more challenging canyons such as Val d'Angouire or Riolan. A paragliding + canyoning combo costs €190.

Children as young as 7-8 can take part in our discovery trails, such as the Jabron. They must be able to swim and follow the guide's instructions. Day trips are available for 12-16 year olds, depending on the canyon. An ideal family activity for thrills and spills.

We supply: 5 mm neoprene wetsuit, helmet, harness, lanyard, descender, canyoning bag.

You'll need to bring: a swimming costume (under your wetsuit), closed-toe shoes such as trainers (they'll get soaked), a towel, dry clothes and a picnic for the day outings.

Supervised by a state-certified guide, the risks are kept under control. We check the weather conditions and water flow before each outing. Our equipment is inspected regularly. Canyoning safety is our absolute priority.

Yes, essential. You need to be able to swim 25 metres and put your head under water without fear. Some pools require you to swim several metres. If you're not comfortable in the water, this activity is not for you.

Closed trainers that you are prepared to get wet and damaged. No sandals, flip-flops or new shoes. Ideally, old running shoes or aquashoes with thick soles.

The season runs from April to September, depending on the canyon. The Val d'Angouire is open in spring (April-June). The other canyons are accessible throughout the summer. July and August offer the best conditions: warmer water, longer days. Ideal when the Parc des Calanques is closed due to the risk of fire.

For a half-day: allow 5-6 hours in total (journey from Marseille ~2 hours, equipment, descent 2-3 hours, return). For a full day at Val d'Angouire: 8-9 hours (journey, approach walk 1h30, descent 5h, return). Pack a picnic.

  • Val d'Angouire: 1h45 via Moustiers-Sainte-Marie - sports day
  • Jabron Canyon: 2h via Castellane - beginners' course
  • Saint-Auban Canyon: 2h15 - intermediate level
  • Gours du Ray / Gorges du Loup: 2h15-2h30 - discovery
  • Riolan Canyon 3h - exceptional sports day

The Calanques National Park is famous for climbing, hiking and water sports, but not for classic canyoning (dry canyons). For a real water adventure with slides, jumps and abseils, you'll have to head for the Gorges du Verdon or the Alpes-Maritimes. The road is part of the adventure, with spectacular scenery!

Absolutely. Make the most of your visit to discover Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (earthenware village), the Gorges du Verdon, Lake Sainte-Croix, or the hilltop villages of the Préalpes d'Azur. A canyoning weekend from Marseille is an excellent way to vary the pleasures.
