The principle is simple: a State-registered monitor You take your place in the pilot's harness, I'll get into mine as a passenger, and the wing does the rest. There's no need to know how to fly. There's no need to be sporty. All you need is the desire to experience something exceptional.

At Accessories, we have been practising tandem paragliding for 19 years from the ridges of Cheiron in Gréolières, at an altitude of 1,800 m. Family baptism experiences, birthday gifts, EVJF, EVG or simply a craving for thrills: every flight is a personalised experience, with over 1070 5/5 reviews to back it up.

Tandem paragliding flight with an instructor Ailéments over the ridges of the Cheiron
The principle

What exactly is a tandem paraglider?

A two-person flight under a single wing, larger than a single-seater wing, designed for stable and progressive flight. Contrary to what many imagine, it is not a jump.

Not a leap

A standing, gentle take-off

A certified pilot at the controls, a passenger seated directly in front of him in a dedicated harness. We're taking off. Standing From a mountainside, facing the wind, with a few running steps. The sail fills, rises, and you leave the ground almost without realising it. No freefall, no vertigo — just the silence of free flight.

Vocabulary

Biplace or tandem: is it the same thing?

Yes, both terms refer to exactly the same practice. «Tandem paragliding» is common in online searches, «biplace» is the technical term in free flight. In both cases: a two-seater sail, two harnesses, a qualified instructor. If you wish to go from passenger to pilot, discover our paragliding courses.

Step by step

How does a tandem flight work from A to Z?

A baptism always follows the same progression, designed to put the passenger at ease at each stage.

Before the flight

Welcome, briefing and ascent to the site

Welcome and briefing (15-20 min) The instructor fits you with your equipment (harness, helmet) and explains three simple instructions — walk on takeoff, sit in flight, land. Then the 4x4 ascent Along a ridge path, with a first glimpse of the panorama: many passengers cite it as a highlight, even before taking off.

In the air

Take-off and flight

Facing the wind, a few running steps sufficient: the sail lifts, the ground disappears. Take-off is gradual, without jolting. In flight (15 to 60 mins depending on the package), the instructor comments on the air currents and the landscape. You can chat, ask questions, or simply enjoy the silence.

Duration

Landing and formulas

The monitor handles everything: you pose Standing on the Gréolières landing zone. Simple and smooth. As for the duration: the discovery flight lasts 15 to 20 minutes (ideal for a first time), the prestige flight lasts 45-60 minutes, with use of thermals and more pronounced sensations.

Safely

Is tandem paragliding safe?

That's the question everyone's asking, and it's a valid one. The answer is yes — provided you fly with a qualified professional and well-maintained equipment.

Compulsory

A state-certified monitor

In France, to take a passenger tandem, the pilot must hold the DEJEPS Paragliding, a state-recognised qualification awarded following rigorous training. At Ailéments, all our instructors are qualified and have been flying tandem in the Alpes-Maritimes for over ten years.

Controlled

Overhauled and certified equipment

Ailéments’s two-seater paragliders are certified and serviced regularly. Technical servicing is carried out in partnership with Aerotech, a specialist workshop at Gréolières. For more details, visit our page paraglider revision.

Gréolières — main website
