Paragliding hiking, also called hike and fly, is a discipline that combines mountain hiking and paragliding. The idea is simple: you walk to take-off, then you fly back down.
Our formula works and flies on the Cheiron.
At Ailéments, our ski-and-fly package takes place on the ridges of the Cheiron, at 1,800 m. You set off from the Gréolières-les-Neiges resort and hike for 45 minutes along the GR4 on the north face. Once at the summit, you head down to the south side for take-off, with a 700-metre descent.
The flight offers a unique view of the ochre cliffs and the hilltop village of Gréolières. The ‘walk and fly’ – or ‘hike and fly’ – combines hiking with tandem paragliding along the ridges of the Cheiron, at an altitude of 1,800 metres. You hike to the take-off point via the GR4, then take to the skies to admire the ochre cliffs and the village of Gréolières.

Who can walk and fly?
The walk and fly is aimed at people who are physically fit and comfortable on a mountain trail. The hiking part requires a minimum of endurance, but is accessible without being technically demanding.
The age
Minimum age of 16 years for this package. No minimum weight for teenagers; maximum passenger weight of 90 kg.
Fitness
Regular mountain hiking experience is required. You must be able to walk uphill for 45 minutes and have good general fitness.
The equipment to bring
Laced hiking boots, collapsible poles (recommended), a small water bottle, and a jacket for high-altitude flight.
Important point · This flight is not suitable for
People with no hiking experience, children under 16 years old, and those with reduced mobility. For younger children or for a flight without walking, opt for the child flight from 4 years old or the upward flight.

How is a walk and flight organised?
No stress, we'll explain everything: your experience begins the day before. You'll receive a confirmation text with the GPS coordinates of the meeting point and the exact time according to the weather, then the D-day will unfold step by step.

What level of physical fitness is required for a hike and fly?
Regular mountain practice is required. You must be able to walk uphill for 45 minutes on a mountain path (GR4). This is not a technical hike, but a sustained walk.
What should I bring for a hike and fly?
Please pack: lace-up hiking boots (mandatory), foldable poles (recommended), a small water bottle, and a jacket for high-altitude flights. Paragliding equipment will be provided.
How long does the walk-and-fly experience last?
Allow around 2h30 to 3h in total: 45 min hike, preparation for the summit, 15 to 30 min flight depending on conditions, and return to the starting point.
What is the minimum age for paragliding?
The minimum age is 16 for this package. For younger individuals, we offer the Child flight (from 4 years) or the Ascending flight, with no hiking section.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We'll check the weather the day before. If conditions aren't favourable (wind, rain, fog), we'll postpone your hike and flight free of charge with a voucher valid for 12 months. You can book your walk and flight online.
