Le Mont Lachens, La Roque Esclapon, the highest point in the Var department, is a legendary site for hang-gliding. Located in the communes of La Roque Esclapon and La Bastide, this national free-flight centre offers exceptional aerological conditions, with powerful thermals and a privileged position between the sea and the mountains.
From this site, you can reach our main site in just 30-45 minutes. Gréolières in the Préalpes d'Azur, offering optimum flying conditions for tandem flights supervised by our instructors.
Gréolières is our main site for first paragliding flights, on the crests of the Cheiron. This authentic village offers ideal aerological conditions for both contemplative and thermal flights, with 360° panoramic views of the Côte d'Azur. Our school and workshop are based in the village, on the edge of the landing.

Alternative accessible from Mont Lachens, The Embarnier site above Gourdon offers a south-east take-off from one of France's most beautiful villages. You can also discover the paragliding from Draguignan, near the Lachens.
💡 How is the site chosen? The day before your flight, our instructors analyse the aerological conditions (thermals, wind, visibility) and confirm the meeting place by text message with the exact GPS coordinates. Access to the summit of Gréolières is by tarmac road, accessible by car. Distance from Nice: approximately 1h15.

The first paragliding flights offered by Ailéments take place at our Gréolières site in the Préalpes d'Azur, which can be reached in around 45 minutes from La Roque Esclapon. The summit is reached by tarmac road from the Col de Clavel (D21). The route passes through the village of Mons and offers exceptional panoramic views. The distance from Nice is around 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Draguignan around 1 hour.
Mont Lachens (1714m) is the roof of the Var, a mythical free-flight site with a unique aerology prized by independent pilots and for paragliding training (paragliding school UCPA in particular). Gréolières (1400m), our main site for first paragliding flights, offers more regular aerological conditions and is ideal for supervised tandem flights. The two sites share the same region and offer exceptional cross-country flights.
The flying season runs from March to October, with particularly favourable conditions in summer and autumn. Spring offers regular powerful thermals. Summer favours early morning flights for ideal weather conditions. Autumn is perfect for visibility, with exceptional 360° panoramas of the Mediterranean and the Alps.
It takes around 45 minutes to reach Gréolières from La Roque Esclapon, via Grasse and the panoramic roads of the Pre-Alps. An organised shuttle service can be arranged on request. Free parking at the take-off site. You will receive the exact GPS coordinates by text message the day before.
Tandem flights are perfectly suited to beginners, with experienced instructors on hand to guide you throughout the experience. From the age of 4, our contemplative flights offer a gentle introduction to paragliding. You don't need to be in any particular physical condition or have any previous paragliding experience. Our well-equipped sites make take-offs as accessible as possible.
The limit is 90 kg, determined by the certification of our paragliding equipment recommended for tandem flights. Beyond this limit, the glider cannot guarantee optimal flight safety. If you are close to this limit, contact us to discuss it.
Even in summer in the Var, It is cooler at altitude (1400m). To prepare for the flight, bring closed-toe shoes (trainers or hiking boots), long trousers and a windproof jacket. We supply an approved helmet and a comfortable harness. In winter, add a hat and gloves.
Safety is our priority and local safety regulations are strictly adhered to. If the weather conditions do not allow you to fly safely, your flight will be postponed free of charge to a date of your choice. You pay nothing until the flight takes place. The day before, you will receive a confirmation or postponement text message.
