The Cramassouri valley: a jewel case of beauty in the Tinée

The setting : The Vallon de Cramassouri, also known as the Vallon des Aviateurs, is considered to be one of the most beautiful canyons in the Alpes-Maritimes. Its water-polished rocks, generous pools and narrow passages create an enchanting setting. An unspoilt, sunny site, ideal for discovering the canyoning.

Good to know: The canyon was modified by storm Alex in 2020, but the floods of 2024 recreated the course. It is now back to its original playful self, with some great slides.

Course features

The route: fun and progressive

Cramassouri is an ideal course for beginners. The obstacles follow on from each other progressively, allowing you to gain confidence as you descend.

Slides: several natural slides on polished rocks
Small jumps: progressive heights for familiarisation
Final abseil: 10 metres over a beautiful waterfall (the highlight of the show)

Gorges du Loup

Located near Gourdon, this canyon offers a fun-filled course perfect for families. Natural slides and small jumps in an unspoilt environment. The ideal introduction for children.

Courmes waterfalls

A complete adventure with a 3h30 descent. The highlight: a vertiginous 65-metre abseil down a waterfall. An aesthetic canyon that combines technique and contemplation.

Riolan

One of the most beautiful canyons in the Alpes-Maritimes. Its two cirques offer a breathtaking backdrop of crystal-clear pools and abseils in an unspoilt environment.

Clue d'Aiglun

For those who love a challenge. A technical canyon with challenging sections and impressive jumps. Physical condition required to fully enjoy the adventure.

Saint-Auban

Near Castellane, a wild and unspoilt canyon. Successive abseils in a high mountain atmosphere. For those looking for authenticity.

Maglia

A full day in the Roya valley, including a picnic. Many abseils and technical passages for a total immersion in nature.

How does the outing work?

Meeting point Meeting point given when booking. Your guide will welcome you and brief you on the tour.

Equipment We provide everything you need: neoprene wetsuit, helmet, harness and abseiling gear.

Approach walk 20 minutes to the start, overlooking the river in a green setting.

The descent Approximately 2 hours in the canyon: slides, small jumps, steep sections and a final 10m abseil. Your instructor will accompany you down each obstacle.

A 5-minute walk back to the cars after the confluence with the Tinée.

Sympas et détendus, Pierrot et Pierre-Yves nous ont tout de suite mises en confiance : aucune appréhension. Nous avons été agréablement surprises par la douceur du décollage et de l’atterrissage. Et entre les deux, des paysages magnifiques ! J’ai même pu prendre les commandes et diriger le parapente pendant quelques minutes… un vrai régal. I have done canyoning in a few countries and this was the best I have done by far. It was a beautiful gorge and had the clearest water.
